WAR STRATEGY AND CLASS
Rome, a vast empire, with beautiful architecture, advanced technology, and large amounts of slaves. They had a massive army to guard all of it. All men had to be part of the army at some point in their life. they could pull off amazing protective strategy's because of their unique shields. they believed that if organized, they would be able to defeat all that threatened Rome.
The Roman army changed their weapons and fighting style depending on the style that was popular then. These were the weapons they used over the years: The Gladius, a small short sword adopted by the Romans. The Pilium was a heavy, Javelin like weapon, thrown at enemy's, and stabbed the enemy's with it. The Hasta was a spear, that was used during the republic, and during the rise of cavalry. The Pugio was a small, leaf blade dagger. The Spathea was a longer sword then the Gladius, and was favored by many Romans. The Plumbata was a light weight, dart, that anyone could use for artillery. The different types of soldiers were: the heavy infantry. The light infantry, who used Light Throwing Javelins. The Archers, Who used Composite bows. The Roman Auxiliaries used a variety more of weapons. Other parts of the military were Centurions, Legates, Legionaries, and Generals.
